Review and Giveaway: The Kill List by Nichole Christoff

My Review:

Jamie Sinclair is a securities and investigation specialist.  When she receives a call from her ex-husband with a plea for help, she has a real dilemma on her hands.  Her ex cheated on her and got his new girlfriend pregnant.  But now it is Tim’s 3 year old daughter, Brooke who has been kidnapped and Tim needs Jamie’s special set of expertise.  Jamie can’t resist helping a little girl in danger, so she puts her personal feelings aside and drives to Fort Leeds, New Jersey where Tim is the commanding general on the army base.

When Jamie gets to Fort Leeds, one of the first people she meets is Adam Barrett who is in charge of the military police and also the investigation into Brooke’s kidnapping.  The sexual tension between Jamie and Adam is evident from the first time they meet and the author keeps us in suspense as to what the outcome of their relationship will be.

This book is fast-paced with a lot of action and Jamie, along with Barrett and the FBI, follow up on one lead after another.  Just as they think they are getting close to finding Brooke’s kidnapper, the trail goes cold.  There are also several times throughout the book when the level of suspense is increased as Jamie’s life is in danger.  She is shot at, almost kidnapped herself, and hit over the head with a shovel.

Nicole Christoff provides us with a tough and strong female character and an interesting mystery that kept me guessing until the end.  If you like a quick moving police procedural type of a story then I highly recommend THE KILL LIST.  I am very glad to see that there will be more books in the Jamie Sinclair series and that we will get more stories that involve Jamie.

Nichole Christoff is a writer, broadcaster, and military spouse who has worked on air and behind the scenes producing and promoting content for radio, television news, and the public relations industry across the United States and Canada. Christoff is a lifetime member of Sisters in Crime and the Jane Austen Society of North America. She also belongs to the Private Eye Writers of America, International Thriller Writers, Mystery Writers of America, Romance Writers of America, and three of RWA’s local chapters where she’s served as an officer and a member of the board.

In Christoff’s first year as a member of RWA, her first manuscript won the Golden Heart for Best Novel with Strong Romantic Elements. Her second manuscript won a 2011 Helen McCloy Scholarship from the Mystery Writers of America. Her latest work, The Kill List, is a 2014 Daphne du Maurier Award for Excellence in Mystery/Suspense nominee.
